COURSES

Welcome!
This page is for you!  It is here as a reference for learning many things related to singing and performance.  Each video has a teaching segment, a practice or research segment and an opportunity for feedback.  The content gives the singer even more tools that can be used towards becoming a well developed singer and musician.  Sometimes I have opportunities to teach this information in lessons and I can apply them to specific individuals and situations. However, sometimes, we focus purely on vocal technique and song application in lessons.  This format allows you to learn beyond the studio.

Please be very careful about what info you learn on singing technique from just anyone on You Tube.  Remember, anyone can post videos online whether or not they have proper training. If you have a specific topic you'd like me to cover in a video, please let me know!

1. Deep Practice - How to practice effectively

After watching this video, I would like you to make a conscious effort to "Deep Practice" daily in order to improve whatever skill we discussed in your last lesson, using the tool(s) assigned, for at least 6-10 minutes everyday.  Make this habit part of your normal practice sessions, but utilize it when you feel something isn't right or after you've made a mistake.  Feel free to send me a short audio clip if you need feedback, otherwise, we can discuss this practice habit at your lesson.

2. How to Journal Your Deep Practice

After watching this video, I would like you to fill out the journal as described and bring it, plus a new clean journal page, to your lesson each week.  Be intentional about writing your thoughts and communicating clearly with me so we can pick up right where you left off in your practice sessions.  P.S. The password has been removed so everyone has access.

3. Overcome fear and stage fright with deep practice.

After watching this video, I would like you to think of a goal that scares you.  Find some practice time to quietly imagine what is happening, whether it be performing in front of a large crowd, auditioning for a a T.V. Show, a theater production or for college, or even singing in front of your family during the holidays.  Journal the details so you know how to prepare mentally and physically as described in this video.  Bring your list to your next lesson and we will discuss how to start walking towards that goal.  Remember, imaging good things and progress replaces fearful, negative thoughts and before you know it, you will know how to manage your fears.

4. How To Choose A Song That Fits You.

After watching this video, I would like you to start researching songs that fit you and potentially can influence your style.  Follow the tips in this video and start making your list.  Bring a list of 3-4 songs to your next lesson and we will get started in the process.
